At HOST Development, our mission is to provide affordable home ownership opportunities to build strong, vital communities.
|
 |
HOST believes home ownership creates individual, family and community prosperity and vitality. To this end, our goals are to help renters become owners and create housing, jobs and community involvement by building and selling homes to low and moderate income buyers. |
HOST Programs
Close to Home
HOST has implemented an initiative called "Close to Home". It uses affordable housing as a community development tool to link housing, job, transportation and schools. Home owners are encouraged to dedicate their volunteer hours to provide meaningful assistance to the community schools. The "Close to Home" initiative also asks area employers to provide home ownership programs (HOPs) that financially assist and encourage their employees to own close to work, reducing commutes while increasing employee retention.
Home Ownership Programs
HOST has created Home Ownership Programs (HOPs) with various employers in the City of Portland. HOST provides homebuyer education, access to information about loans and closing cost assistance, and introduction to lenders who specialize in working with first time homebuyers. If you are interested in more information about our HOPs programs, contact Ted Salter at ted@hostdevelopment.com or (503) 331-1752 ext. 104.
